Sloan Innovation Period (SIP)

Since 2003 SIP has provided a unique curricular innovation. MIT Sloan replaced its traditional 13-week semester with a striking new rhythm of 6/1/6 — six weeks of course work on either side of an intense week of experiential leadership learning and exposure to the groundbreaking faculty research that puts MIT Sloan in a league apart. During SIP, students and faculty have the time and flexibility to do things that aren't possible within the rigid bounds of ordinary classrooms and course schedules — like practicing the hands-on skills of leadership, delving deeply into areas of particular interest, or hearing the latest in faculty research. In both years of the MBA program, students enroll in a variety of SIP seminars and activities focused on leadership, research, and practice.
